SmartPiggy started as a feature-heavy experience that didn't do much to meet the users' actual needs. Part of my role was to help the product team understand who this product would really serve and pivot our efforts towards crafting an experience that me the needs of our chosen audience.

Back to the Basics

In order to zero in on the "why" of our product, we had to get back to the basics and definitively identify who we were creating this product for.

To do this, we:

  • Analyzed what we had, both in terms of visuals and features

  • Ran a competitive analysis

  • Conducted user interviews

  • Built user personas based on our findings

Getting Organized

With our target audience as our north star, I brought the team together and began the work of turning SmartPiggy into a functional personal-finance app with special features that helped set our app apart.

Exercise Takeaways

  1. We were able to structure an MVP that was ready to take to market

  2. We came to better understand our users' needs

  3. We recognized the need for a robust onboarding process

The Foundation has been set

The Foundation has been set

The project has progress much further since then, but setting a good foundation and helping the team bring the user into the product and the decisions to be made when moving forward was key.

This was a contract position so i have no further insight on the progress of SmartPiggy. But I will leave with some final Hi fidelity comps and the onboarding user flow and wireframes I created as well.
